Motion has always been on a growth trajectory. Year after year, we have tried to “better our best,” keep existing clients happy, and innovate and expand with them while looking for new companies to partner with. We pride ourselves on our growth mindset. It is why we have powerful (and sometimes long) brainstorms, why our talent is constantly coming up with fresh ideas and why I have terrible insomnia. Growing with integrity and quality work is how we are wired. And it is what is going to keep Motion going through the 2020 pandemic.
This year, for the first time ever, our growth mindset got recognized by Inc. magazine. We earned a coveted spot on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies. Not only did we make the list, but we were in the top 25 percentile, coming in at No. 1,174 out of 5,000 companies. Since 2016, Motion’s revenue grew 385%, all while expanding our footprint with two major acquisitions and adding over 40 employee positions. Since our founding in 2006, we’ve moved offices six times, outgrowing our space each time.
Our loyal, savvy clients and dedicated staff are what have enabled us to grow at this rate. We can all share in and stand proudly behind this recognition from Inc. Those who have been with me from the start or close to it can attest that our growth has been exhilarating, and it keeps us all motivated.
However, this amazing growth trajectory comes with many lessons learned along the way, including how to expand, how to stay true to ourselves, how to evolve our thinking and how to become the best we can possibly be. Growing comes with bumps and bruises, but all these lessons have helped us shape who we are today.
I am proud to join other privately held companies in various sectors that have a spot on Inc.’s list. Entrepreneurs and business owners who are committed to staying strong and growing really believe that anything is possible. Sometimes adversity can obstruct our growth potential, and it is hard to feel accomplishments when there’s chaos around us.
So, as we power through a difficult 2020, I want to remind my fellow entrepreneurs, colleagues and clients that anything is possible, and by supporting each other, we can defy the odds.
